Halloween at the Farm 2017 made some Doll costumes :)

The picture above I sewed left over piece of crochet material ( available at Walmart ) together and used remaining blue Tulle to just see what I could come up with. This one is far from perfect but it was fun to try out the puff along the shoulders. The Tulle I purchased was not the best quality so I thought I would just play around with it and not feel any quilt for just letting the creative side of me loose. πŸ˜€

This was my favorite dress. the crochet top was sewn together from a roll of crochet 'ribbon' I purchased at Hobby Lobby. It was super easy and the tulle was in excellent condition. the leaves are cut from ribbon also purchased at Hobby Lobby I thought it looked very Nature. Love this one.πŸ’–

This one I used the Crochet top same as above and I used left over Orange tulle from Ziva's Great Pumpkin costume. I had been saving this ribbon for years (purchased at the Dollar Store) I cut out the owls and glued them on. I must say I saw this looking better in my head than I think it does but it is cute.

Making another pair of pants my own:)

These pantsπŸ‘– were given to me by my mother. I did like the way they fit but felt like they were a bit boring. So it took me a little while but I found a bleach pen and drew designs on both the front and back. After that dried I cut some slits in the front and patched it with yellow bee material. ( purchased at Walmart LOL) --( after all bees are all the rage now, right...... hehe) I had purchased some scrap material at a local quilt shop and I used the light weight corduroy to make a flair. I was going to use blue corduroy and blue bee material but my husband said the yellow will stand out more. He was absolutely right the yellow was perfect. I machine embroidered a flower🌻 on each flair and boxed in the patches with a decorative stich available on the machine. The slits will open up after a few washes these are one of my favorites. I love how they look so bright. Great call on the yellow. ❤❤😍😍😍😍

Forgive the awkwardness of the photos.... Its not that easy to take pictures looking down. HAHA

Life with a Cream Seperator

This is my life with a cream separator. I am milking four goats with just two adults in the house. So I have way to much milk. I am going to let the pictures do the talking.:) I have had some messes but I feel like I am getting the hang of this.  So what do I do with the cream? I use it to cook with, make butter (lots and lots of butter), in my morning coffee. The whole process takes me around 45 minutes.
cream separated ready to go

milk about to be separated

One of our chickens had a chick the old fashion way, she sat on the eggs. LOL It is so cute how protective they are.

Pants I embroidery on last year. Went with a ALL American Theme

Oh yea another pair of pants I purchased from a thrift store. LOL Now these are just for fun I went with a patriotic theme. I had them finished in time for Memorial day, Flag day and of course Fourth of July. It took eight hours to embroider all these designs on this pants. ( I figure its worth it, really using my embroidery machine.) I wear them everywhere and I do not worry about wearing them here on the farm.

Pant revamp This is another pair I made longer

I found these pants at a thrift store for only ten cents. ( you can not beat that!) So here is what I did with the pants. ( which by the way I love) I originally purchased corduroy to insert to make longer but I really did not like how they looked. I tore through my stash of old clothes I had disassembled to see if anything worked. The big trick here is to find something that is the same weight ( or close to) and the colors match. ( match enough). What I used is light weight light colored denim ( I had disassembled a pair of pants from the eighties- oh yea I know they were I was an adult then) Here came the tricky part. I ripped the seam on the side to insert material. These pants fit great in the waist and thigh but were short, too short. I inserted a band in the pants and on the bottom to give length. I did have one problem ( some me and some with how much fabric I had to work with) on one side when I sewed the seam back together it did not match perfect. ( or even close) I was given some denim material and I appliqued a heart on to mask it - liked the way it looked so I did several more. I also embroidered a few flowers and one lone strawberry to give it a little feel - originally I purchased these birds to applique on and I truthfully felt it did not need them. However I also did not want them lost in a pile in my sewing room. HAHA if they hold up I am going to use some more on my next pair of pants.

FYI: Husband took picture and he was reluctant to do so. Had things to do he said. LOL - not the greatest photo but you get the idea

I have been busy making girl dresses

Here lately I have been super busy making girl dresses. I may have gone over the deep end. LOL  I have mailed them and they are scheduled to arrive today. I am super excited to hear what they think about these beauties. It seemed like I would finish one and more material would appear to go again. Even the husband was picking out fabric. Here is a fun fact. Middle son has placed a request for a set of dresses. FYI- its not over, ( seriously smiling over this) Now what I did was search the internet for A-dresses. I found several websites with free patterns and I do love a Freebie. I found a pattern on EBay for a super reasonable price and snagged it. It was from the 80's and at the top tabs had them rounded. I found I like the square look better so I adapted. Now here is the final total:
12 months- 7 dresses, 1 pair of shorts
2T - 8 dresses, 1 pair of shorts
3T - 7 dresses, 4 pairs of shorts, 1 top with three tops waiting to be sewn.
I am seriously not done. I have pants to make too. Fabric waiting to be cut and sewn.

I love the Frozen Dresses ( husband choice), Star Wars ( husband choice)  I really was impressed with the Wonder woman/ Batgirl fabric.

I had a blast. That is what all this is about. Dresses made with LOVEπŸ’˜πŸ’—πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–

What i did on a Rainy dayπŸ˜†

I played around today making doll clothes for an 18 inch doll. I made one jump suit, out of a pair of pants from a thrift Store!  ( was not easy ) one skirt I pieced together left over materal ( bee skirt) made a headband to match. And another skirt and tube top from a sock!

Check out the hearts I embroidered on the pantsuit.
Ziva was not happy about being inside most of the day.

FYI: I named the doll Abby😚

Poncho from Thrift Store Wool Pants

I was at a local thrift store a few months ago. They were having a bag sale and I picked up several pairs of wool pants. I cut them along the seams and felted them. ( washed them in hot water and dried them in the dryer on high heat) Then I cut them into panels and serge them together. I did do an extra step and sewed the hems of each seam down so they laid flat. I had to applique a few designs on the red due to the fact of when I held it up to the light I saw a few pin holes. ( that added a little time but it was totally worth it) I  did a rolled hem on the edge along the top and bottom of the poncho. I sewed the hem with my 1957 Necchi Supernova sewing machine and it handled all the bulk at the seams like a dream.
I wore the poncho today in the cold weather and when I was milking the goats I was warm and toasty.

Baby Bonnets and slippers from scraps

My first time drawing patterns from a picture. Took several trial runs but I think they are good to go now. I googled average size of babies heads and ran trial runs on dolls with measurements. Now these should fit 0-3 months. If you had or have big babies like I did well..... that's anybody  guess.  (Smile) I'm sure excited about this!

It's time to start hatching out ducks

Here we go. Incubators are running again.😄 can't believe it's that time already. This is the first time I will be attempting to hatch duck eggs. I will keep you posted along the way.

Real silverware find... antique- ing at its finest

I came across this awesome deal for all these forks. I like my silverware to be silver ( this is silver plated except one) it's heavier. Nothing matches and that's wonderful!  A few more polishes and they will be amazing.
